Canberra Day Oration with Marie Coleman

Social activist and journalist Marie Coleman has spent over 60 years campaigning against the gender pay gap and other social injustices.

A founder of the National Foundation for Australian Women, Coleman was instrumental in establishing the Australian Women’s Archives Project and lobbied for the Commonwealth paid parental leave legislation.

She has been presented with an array of prestigious awards, including the Public Service Medal, and has also been made an Officer of the Order of Australia. She was inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women in 2001 and was the 2011 ACT Senior Australian of the Year.
