National Sheep Dog Trial Championships

From Wednesday 11 March 2020 -  09:00am
To Sunday 15 March 2020 - 03:30pm

Ever seen a top sheep dog in action? A blur of high speed motion, absolute stillness, controlled aggression and canny mind control of the three sheep - all while instantly responding to direction from the handler. It's not cricket - that's for sure! It’s a compelling, often nail-biting, spectator experience and a display of extraordinary teamwork. Throw in the rural setting of lovely Hall Village and you have all the ingredients for a great day out for the family and a fascinating insight into Australia's rural life.

For 76 years sheepdogs from around Australia and their handlers, have come to Canberra to compete for the honour of winning The National Sheepdog Trial Championships. The conditions this year are especially challenging - despite the drought and bush fires our competitors will come from far and wide to support this sport that is rich in Australian rural heritage.

Do yourself and our competitors a favour - come out and watch the action for an hour (or a day) or two. Bring the family and your dogs. Yes - dogs on leads will be most welcome – so please bring your dogs along to see what the pros can do!

This year we are privileged to have the support of His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) who will be attending the final and presenting the Duke of Gloucester Sash to the 2020 National Sheepdog Trial Open Champion.
$5 for Adults (15 and over) attending the Finals (14 & 15 March). Otherwise by donation.
