The mystery surrounding the creation of wombats cube-shaped poo has finally been explained.
University of Tasmania wildlife ecologist SCOTT CARVER says the cubes are formed in the wombat’s intestine, much higher than originally thought.
They found varying muscle thickness around the species’ intestines and muscle contractions forms the faeces’ unusual shape.
