12 Public Service Departments Could Be Moved To Regional Areas

12 public service departments in Canberra could be moved to regional areas, if they can't justify their presence in the capital.
New figures obtained by Fairfax reveal agencies including Environment and Energy, Infrastructure and Regional Development, and Communications have massed their workforces in the capital, at levels above the APS average.
80 percent of staff at the departments named are concentrated here, and are therefore more likely to be targeted by the government's decentralisation policy.
The Nationals have rejected the notion of being anti-Canberra, and say their policy is mainly targeting public servants in Melbourne and Sydney.
Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce has ruled out moving Treasury, Finance or the Tax Office.
