Woman Who Killed Mother Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter

A Canberra woman has pleaded guilty to manslaughter over the death of her own mother in 2014.

Gabrielle Woutersz faced a murder trial last year but the jury was unable to come to a verdict, given her mental disability.

Norma Cheryl Woutersz was found dead in their Dunlop backyard, having been repeatedly struck by a hammer.

The daughter never denied killing her mother, but her lawyers argued she was not guilty by reason of mental impairment.

Last year the Supreme Court heard a happy upbringing turned to drugs and prostitution for now 26-year-old Gabrielle.

She'll be sentenced now for manslaughter with diminished responsibly, later this year.
