Staff at New Canberra Hospital to be Outsourced

Unions have slammed the ACT government's decision to outsource all non-clinical roles at the new University of Canberra Hospital.

ACT Health has revealed the new staffing positions of ward persons, hospital assistants, maintenance workers, caterers, security, administration and cleaners will be contracted out.

Health Services Union NSW/ACT secretary Gerard Hayes is seeking an urgent meeting with ACT Health Minister Meegan Fitzharris over the revelations.

A spokeswoman for the government says ACT Health is currently engaging and consulting with staff and unions about the hospital's staffing details.
