First sod turned on Stromlo's new leisure centre
The first step in construction has started on Stromlo's nearly $40 million leisure centre. Minister for Sport and Recreation, Yvette Berry, turned the first sod at Stromlo Forest Park for the new facility.

Once it is finished it will service more than 100,000 people in Weston Creek, Woden and Molonglo Valley.

The project has been planned for almost 10 years and will include a 50-metre lap and competition pool, a program pool for activities such swimming lessons and aqua aerobics, a reception, kiosk, administration offices and change rooms.

Construction will start at the end of this month and is expected to be finished in early 2020.
