Canberra schools rejecting changes to anti-discrimination laws
Canberra schools are rejecting recommended changes to anti-discrimination laws that would give religious schools the right to turn away gay teachers and students. A review into religious freedoms is calling for nation-wide provisions to allow pupils or teachers to be turned away based on their sexual orientation.
 
Principal of St Mary Mackillop College Michael Lee says he doesn't know of any school in Canberra, Catholic or otherwise, who'd turn students or staff away because of their sexuality.
