Principals stopping teachers from reporting violence

More than six Canberra teachers a day on average reported violence at school last financial year. The revelation comes as WorkSafe takes action against the ACT Education Directorate for failing to keep staff safe.

The Education Directorate has spent the past two years implementing reforms designed to build a culture of reporting, but some teachers said they were "explicitly" discouraged from reporting violent events.

Those incidents ranged from windows and computers being smashed during class to violence against staff and other students.
