Fire burns north of Batemans Bay

Winds are fuelling a bushfire burning at Emergency Warning level on the south coast of New South Wales.

The Currowan fire has isolated some coastal communities north of Batemans Bay.

Fire fighters are currently working to protect nearby homes and businesses.

Meanwhile, the fire at North Black Range in Palerang has eased overnight, but firefighters are urging residents to stay vigilant.

Strike teams from the ACT joined 150 firefighters yesterday to protect homes in Braidwood after spot fires jumped Cooma Road.

It's been a weekend of extremes, with snow forecast at Charlotte Pass and a sheep grazier's alert issued for cold and strong winds in Canberra and the Southern Tablelands.
