Canberra goes from hail to heatwave

Canberra is bracing for more extreme weather conditions, as a heatwave sweeps right across the country.

The weather system will develop in WA before heading east, with the mercury climbing to 40 degrees plus by the end of the week.

A Severe Fire Danger Warning has been issued for the ACT, with a total fire ban now in place for the rest of the month.
