Barr Government's net debt jumps by over $100m

The ACT Government's net debt has jumped by over $100 million dollars in six months.

The findings were released in the mid-year Budget review and show the government has been drawing on borrowings to fund $86 million dollars in spending over the next four years.

Despite this, treasury spokespeople claim the budget is in broad balance....

A Canberra pastor will plead not guilty to charges of sexual intercourse without consent and multiple acts of indecency.

Hunting dogs could be banned under new legislation

Using hunting dogs in the ACT could be banned under proposed animal welfare laws.

People could face up to three years in prison for "taking part in a violent activity", which includes animal fights, live baiting and hunting.

There are also increased penalties for leaving a dog in a hot car, and the amount of dogs one person can walk will be capped...
