Firearms and cash seized in Queanbeyan

A man will face court in Queanbeyan today after being charged with multiple firearm offences.

The 32 year old's accused of firing a shot into a woman's home in Carwoola on Sunday night.

Police later searched the man's home on Captains Flat Road and allegedly found five unregistered firearms, an unregistered Luger pistol, a homemade gun, an imitation...

New schools for Canberra's north

New schools for Canberra's north

Two new public schools will be built in Canberra's north, as today's ACT budget plans for population growth.

A 47 million dollar primary school in Throsby will open its doors to students in 2022, while a high school in Kenny will open the following year.

The government says the two schools will be built to the "highest standards of sustainability"...

Second fatality on ACT roads

Second fatality on ACT roads

The ACT has recorded its second fatality for 2019, with a 91 year old man killed in a single vehicle incident in Yarralumla.


The accident occurred in the car park of the Southern Cross Yacht Club at around midday yesterday.

The man was treated by paramedics at the scene, but couldn't be revived.

A report is being prepared for the Coroner.
