Fire training exercises in Phillip today

ACT Fire & Rescue will be conducting training exercises in Phillip today.

They will be taking place at the site of the old Woden Tradies Club on Launceston Street between 9am and 2.30pm.

There will be no fire involved in the exercises, but theatrical smoke will be used and may be visible nearby.

Canberra to Celebrate Greek Independence Day

Canberra landmarks including Telstra Tower, Questacon and the Carillon will light up tonight in the blue and white of the Greek flag to celebrate Greek Independence Day.

Braddon Road Closures

Multiple road closures will be in place in Braddon for more than a month as works begin to upgrade Canberra’s ageing water network.

The eastern side of the Mort Street and Elouera Street roundabout, parts of southbound lanes of Mort Street and parts of Elouera Street in both directions will be closed from until April 30th.

ACT Policing warn against disaster tourism

ACT Policing is urging the Canberra community not to take part in disaster tourism.

At about 7.30 last night, Police received a request for assistance after a woman fell into the swollen river at Kambah Pools.

The woman moved closer to the river to take a photo and slipped on the wet rocks and fell into the fast flowing water.
