Police are investigating a possible hate crime at the Canberra Centre last week.

Two Indonesian Masters students were wearing head scarves when one of them was punched in the head near the bus stop near Target last Thursday evening.

The women have since returned to their families, too afraid to stay in Canberra.

Strong winds combined with dust from western NSW coated Canberra in orange.

There was a severe fire danger warning in place, followed by a health warning from breathing the dust.

Police seek witnesses to Mount Ainslie crash

ACT Policing is asking witnesses to a single vehicle crash on Mount Ainslie on Saturday night to come forward.

The 20-year-old sole occupant was found in a gully near his vehicle off Mount Ainslie Drive the next morning by walkers and was taken to Canberra Hospital for serious, but non life threatening injuries.
