The majority of urgent patients in Canberra's emergency departments are failing to receive treatment on time.

The latest report from the ACT Health Directorate shows just 30 per cent of urgent patients were seen on time between January and March this year.

Spike in flu season for Canberra

The number of confirmed flu cases in the ACT is five times the amount reported at the same time last year.

738 Canberrans have been diagnosed with influenza in 2019, compared to just 137 cases by this time last year.

Data from the ACT treasury shows private and independent schools have received more tax breaks than pensioners over the past three years.
