A.C.T. Senator Wants Social Media Ad Change

A.C.T. Senator David Pocock wants action to reform GAMBLING, alcohol and unhealthy food advertisements on social media.

The senator says he’s spoken with experts to discuss possibilities for regulation, particularly measures to protect young people.

He says university researchers have examined ads from Facebook and Instagram, targetting those aged between 16 and 25.

The study found their feeds were dominated by highly targeted marketing – of unhealthy and harmful products.

Senator Pocock says political courage is needed to take on big companies to ensure better advertising regulations on harmful products.
