Construction has begun on the new Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service facility in Erindale.
The new facility is designed to support the wellbeing and recovery of young Canberrans with welcoming indoor, outdoor and group therapy spaces that reflect the needs and experiences of clinicians, children and families.
Relocated as part of the Northside Hospital Project, the new facility will be on a bigger site with a connection to nature, convenient access to public transport, more parking and the capacity to expand into the future.
The facilities programs run five days a week and support young people to build confidence, achieve their potential and improve day-to-day functioning.
Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Health Infrastructure, Rachel Stephen-Smith said the facility will support young Canberrans experiencing mental health challenges.
“The new facility has been designed with and for children and clinicians to ensure the purpose-built, therapeutic environment supports wellbeing and recovery” Ms Stephen Smith said.
Works on the new facility will be completed by local company Shaw Building Group, and is expected to be complete in late 2027.
