The ACT Ambulance Service received nearly 19,00 Triple Zero emergency calls in the first quarter of the year, representing the highest demand ever recorded.

That’s according to the service’s latest quarterly performance report which also found there were 42 ambulance station closures across the quarter.

Dickson was closed 33 times for a total of 208.5 hours, compared to Fyshwick which was closed eight times, and Woden once.

ACT Ambulance Service Chief Officer David Dutton says just because an ambulance station appears as closed in the report, it doesn’t mean the locals in the area can’t access help.
