ACT ESA Commissioner says no one person to blame for Orroral Valley Fire

Emergency Services Commissioner Georgeina Whelan says the first responsibility of the Pilot of a Defence helicopter that crash in Namadgi National Park was to tend to the welfare of his crew.

The comments come following revelations it took 45 minutes for Defence to alert the ACT ESA of the location of the blaze.

The Commissioner says she doesn’t blame anyone individual for the fire which devastated the park, burning up 80 per cent of it.
