The ACT Government is ruling out the co-location of data centres with public swimming pools, ahead of an ACT Greens proposal to be debated in the Legislative Assembly later this week.
Chief Minister Andrew Barr says while the Government supports innovation and energy efficiency, public aquatic facilities in Canberra’s suburbs are not appropriate locations for data-centre development.
The local Greens had suggested co-locating data centres with public pools to utilise waste heat.
The Chief Minister says the Government’s recetly announced Data Centre Framework will provide a clear and appropriate pathway for future industry growth.
