ACT Greens and ACT Labor agreement comes to an end

The ACT Government has reacted to news that the local Greens will not continue their confidence and supply agreement with them for the rest of this term.

ACT Labor says it remains committed to delivering practical outcomes for Canberrans, and respects the decision from the Greens.

Greens Leader Jo Clay says the party wanted to deliver outcomes for locals and kept the door open to do so, but Labor chose to not be accountable in delivering their own policy.

In a responding statement, Chief Minister Andrew Barr said, while they were unable to reach an agreement on every issue, discussions between the government and the greens were positive and productive.

The two parties have been out of favour with each other for some time, after the Greens voted to not renew its partnership with Labor after the 2024 election.
