The former head of the NSW police watchdog has been appointed acting ACT Integrity Commissioner.

MICHAEL ADAMS QC will start in the role on January 12 following the resignation of inaugural commissioner DENNIS COWDROY.

A replacement is expected to be appointed by mid 2021.
