Ambulances have been diverted from Canberra Hospital after a record number of patients presented to emergency.

It’s believed the hospital went on partial bypass yesterday afternoon, with non-critical patients diverted to Calvary Hospital for a number of hours.

It’s unclear what’s causing the dramatic increase in patient numbers, with more than 300 people visiting the emergency department on Monday.
