The National Capital Authority has approved a 1-million dollar proposal for a new beach arena and spectator amphitheatre at Black Mountain Peninsula for rowing and community events

Just three submissions were given to the NCA, all in favour of the development.

Submissions said the proposal would contribute to increased use of Lake Burley Griffin and the surrounding public space.

The proposed works will include the construction of terraced seating for spectators and visitors that will frame a sandy beach, as well as landscaping and the installation of a sound system.
