A new report from the Australian National University has found almost half of the population have used artificial intelligence, but there are still concerns about the technology.

Researchers from the Schools of Cybernetics & Politics and International Relations surveyed more than 3,500 adults and found 48% of them have used AI at least once.

Two-thirds of respondents believed the Government should be responsible for governing AI, while almost half say an independent authority should do it.

Eight in 10 are concerned or very concerned about AI in politics, with concerns including the spread of misinformation and leaking sensitive data.
