A man has been charged, after allegedly stealing a car from the ACT and starting a pursuit on the New South Wales South Coast.

About 11am Monday, officers spotted an alleged stolen Mercedes, and tried to pull it over, sparking a pursuit.

Police allege the car went onto the wrong side of the road, before spikes were deployed, and the car came to a stop in Nelligen.

The 25-year-old male driver was arrested a short time later, following a foot pursuit.
