A Canberra man remains on bail – with his case to be considered by a Supreme Court Registrar later this month – after a jury found him guilty of rape after a Government department Christmas Party.
The case is complex.
It’s the first time a majority verdict was reached in the A.C.T. –
changes were brought into to allow 11 out of 12 verdicts from jurors, instead of a unanimous decision.
The man repeatedly denied the allegation of an incident back in 2022.
He told the court, he was reaching for a vape, on her legs… as she was driving… and she gave him permission to touch her.
The man remains on bail with the case next to go before a registrar later this month
