Police are investigating a bizarre discovery on the side of the road, north of Yass.

A Rye Park local says he found a gun safe – and a regular safe – abandoned on the side of Dalton Road.

Both had been broken into with large holes found in the back of the safes.

Inspector DAVE COWAN believes they were stolen from a local property, but the owner may not know it… and wants anyone with information to contact police.
