The decision by the New South Wales Government, to return aerial shooting of wild brumbies in Kosciuszko National Park has been welcomed by the Invasive Species Council.

The announcement will see the practice added to the Wild Horse Management Plan, which requires numbers to be reduced to 3,000 by June 20-27.

This comes after a Senate inquiry recommended the practise return, citing damage to native wildlife.

Richard Swain, Indigenous Ambassador for the Invasive Species Council, says there’s no simple solution to the feral horse problem.
