Police fired a gun and a taser in an attempt to arrest a man caught robbing a business in Bungendore early on Friday morning before the alleged offender stole a police car and headed to Canberra.
Police, called to Malbon Street, Bungendore, at around 2.20am on Friday following reports of a break and enter at a business, arrived to find a man inside the premises.
Punches were thrown in a struggle when police tried to arrest him. Police fired a taser that proved ineffective and the man stole their marked police vehicle and allegedly drove towards the two constables.
One of the constables fired a gun that hit the passenger door of the police car.
The police vehicle was later recovered by ACT police at the intersection of Canberra Avenue and Geelong Street, Fyshwick. No property was missing from the vehicle.
On Sunday morning ACT police arrested a 24-year-old man inside a car parked on Rosenthal Street, Campbell.
NSW police will seek extradition in the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday.
