Several nature reserves will be closed in the coming weeks as authorities aim to control booming bunny populations.
Rolling closures will occur at Mount Ainslie and Majura, along with Red Hill Nature Reserve, as contractors and ACT Parks staff carry out control measures.
From next month, they’ll use thermal-assisted shooting for the first time in all parks along with other methods during the evenings and early mornings.
It’s believed wet weather has caused rabbit populations to soar in recent years from excess grass growth.
The government says control measures are conducted in areas of high conservation value to reduce environmental harm.
