Residents and holidaymakers on the South Coast have spent the night on edge, as a bushfire burnt through 5-thousand hectares.
The blaze at Bermagui has been downgraded to Watch and Act level, as southerly winds and light rain sweeps through the Bega Valley.
The Rural Fire Service is sending crews out to assess the damage..
Authorities are also hopeful that rain in the coming days will bring some reprieve to a fire burning at Bredbo, south of Canberra.
