There are renewed calls to improve the territory’s roads with last week’s down pour causing further damage.
Figures from a recent estimates hearing have revealed the ACT Govenrment has paid out drivers more than $43,000 who claim their vehicles have been damaged by potholes this year.
It’s prompted calls by the Canberra Liberals for the Labor-Greens government to fast track road repairs.
Opposition Services Minister Nicole Lawder says a lack of proper maintenance has seen many of the territory’s roads deteriorate further following recent bouts of heavy rainfall.
She says the number and scale of potholes being reported across the road network shows more must be done to improve it.
