Canberra Chef who broke a man’s jaw denied bail

A 27-year-old Canberra Chef who broke a man’s jaw after he made comments about his tattoo has escaped jail time.

Dylan Vardai faced the ACT Supreme Court over the one-punch attack which occurred back in 2016 in the Canberra CBD.

It took about two years for authorities to catch up with him, Vardai claimed he wasn’t aware Police were after him despite well-publicised efforts to find him.

He told the Court he was sorry for attacking the man and should have just pushed him off.

Vardai will undergo an intensive corrections order and will be required to complete 100 hours of community service.
