High expectations remain for the resumption of direct flights linking Canberra with Darwin, due to begin Sunday July 6.

Qantas stopped the direct flights last year but earlier THIS year, announced plans to recommence the service, however, the service is seasonal for just a few months.

An Embraer 190 jet aircraft will service the National Capital’s connection with Darwin which was Originally planned for June, but got delayed until this Sunday.

Meantime, a new Qantas jet arrived in Australia on Wednesday Morning, and it was sight for those north of Canberra.

The Airbus A321 will eventually replace all Boeing 737 jets.

The aircraft is the first of its kind for Qantas and flew at low level over Crookwell and Taralga.

The jet flew low enough that it could be seen with the naked eye.

The plane flew direct from Bangkok and is roomier for passengers, more fuel efficient and can fly longer distances.
