Canberra Storm Aftermath

Crews have brought under control a small grass fire in Gungahlin, believed to be sparked by lightning ahead of yesterday’s storm to hit Canberra.

The storm front hit the city around four yesterday afternoon, bringing with it wind gusts of nearly 90km/h in some parts of the city.

Canberra Airport recorded 27 millimetres of rain in a short period of time.

The storm left thousands of Canberrans without power in the south, with police called to Lanyon Drive after traffic lights went out.
