Canberrans have begun to see some relief at the bowser, but experts say it may not be off the back off the Federal Government’s cut to the fuel excise.

Oil prices have been steadily falling for several weeks, and it is believed the savings made there have been passed on to consumers.

Peter Khoury from the NRMA says the announcement of the excise cut could have also spurred oil companies decided to hurry along price cuts.

“They have been holding off on those cuts to motorists for weeks,” Khoury said.

“In terms of service stations it depends on when they re-stock, hopefully some that have already re-stocked we’re seeing those prices fall.”
