The devastation from Cyclone Alfred (now a low depression) can be felt as far south as the National Capital.
Not only does it impact many Federal politicians who reside and work in the path of the storm activity, many Canberrans have friends and family in areas that are now flooded, or still facing the potential for more destruction in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales.
At the height of the cyclone making landfall, trees were uprooted leaving a path of destruction across homes and property.
At the time of writing, a quarter of a million people remain without electricity.
Supermarket shelves remain empty.
It’s caused many rescues and calls for help.
Soldiers were injured when their trucks rolled as they were on their way to a deployment to help those in need.
At last report, the rain was expected atleast for another day, but potential flooding remains until the end of the week.
