The property industry says an international student cap will do little to curb Canberra’s housing crisis.

The caps were announced in August.

The Department of Education estimates the Australian National University will be allowed 3400 new students from outside Australia , compared with 3972 in 2023.

The University of Canberra’s international student numbers may rise slightly, from 1422 in 2023 – to 1500 next year

the ANU Students’ Association, says it has been presented with little evidence of benefits to the rental market.
