Canberra’s frontline Centrelink workers have welcomed moves for greater protection from violent aggressive attacks.
It’s an amendment to the Criminal code bill, recently passed in Federal Parliament.
It means there’ll be a greater penalty for anyone involved in conduct that causes harm.
Up to 13 years jail is the new punishment under the amendment….
A threat to cause harm would see up to nine years imprisonment.
The tougher penalties are the brain child of Government Services Minister BILL SHORTEN in the wake of recent threats and attacks
