A 65-year-old man has been charged after police uncovered child abuse videos and images on his phones and computers.
In September (2024), ACT Policing’s Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET) received a referral from the US based National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding a social media user in the ACT who was transmitting child abuse material.
The ACT JACET began an investigation and yesterday (Tuesday, 12 November 2024) executed a search warrant at the man’s home.
After examining the 65-year-old man’s electronic devices, he was arrested and charged with possessing child abuse material.
He will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court on 19 December 2024.
Anyone with information regarding the accessing or creation of child abuse material is urged to contact crime stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
