Child Abuse Conviction But Allowed Free

A Canberra man’s escaped further jail despite being convicted in court of child abuse of an athlete under his supervision.

The man faced the A.C.T. Magistates court last week where he was sentenced for what’s been deemed “predatory crimes”.

He spent 7 days in custody ahead of sentencing.

Despite the prosecution’s bid for a 7 year jail term, the judge instead ruled time already spent in custody… a three year good behaviour bond AND a two year jail sentence, suspended from last Wednesday.
