A community health hub in the city may be closed until August 7th as asbestos testing and remediation work continues.

Infrastructure Canberra has provided an update on the temporary closure at at 1 Moore Street after asbestos containing material was found within the building.

Preliminary results indicate that several occupied areas across multiple floors have been cleared of the material, with results from the remainder of the testing program still pending.

Based on advice from specialist consultants, the building will need to remain close while cleaning and remediation activities are carried out.

The site is also home to the City Health Centre, BreastScreen ACT and the CanTEST pill testing service.
