With the ACT Government looking into how it can upgrade the local air quality monitoring network, there are concerns about a lack of plans to monitor pollens.

The bushfire smoke from last summer highlighted the need for the upgrades.

Currently, the network monitors carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide and ozone.

There’s been an increase in the amount of pollens in the air this year, affecting people with asthma and other breathing difficulties.
