There are renewed concerns, the cost of flights out of Canberra will go up as a result of REX ending its capital city flights.
REX was flying between Canberra and Melbourne – it was being seen as helping keep airfares down, but now the consumer watch has raised fresh concerns, prices will go up.
The A TRIPLE C warns, it’s the result of REX ending its capital city flights – AND the loss of regional carrier BONZA, earlier this year.
It says, it’s done the figures – and its latest airline competition report shows a quarter of the average prices were knocked off.. – but now, routes will really only have two competing airlines – Virgin and Qantas, which also operates Jetstar.
REX has been given until tuesday to justify a request for an extension to its administration period, through to the end of November.
