Contracting Company Fined

Share:

A Canberra contracting company has been slapped with a 78-thousand dollar penalty, for not letting union officials inspect a building site in Woden.

The incident happened in late 2021… at the Canberra Institute of Technology’s Woden campus.

Two officials with the CFMEU wanted to investigate claims of workplace safety concerns… but were prevented from entering parts of the site.

Federal Court Justice STEPHEN McDONALD… in handing down the penalty, stated the conduct was deliberate… and intententionally acted to frustrate the rights of union officials.

Part of the financial penalty has been slapped on the company’s manager… and an operations manager.
