A re-alligned REX Airlines may NOT be headed to Canberra, if a new owner gets its way in calling it “T-A-A”
A Sydney based group has come out in support of saving the embattled carrier by re-branding it and focusing its operations on Darwin Airport.
Renaissance Partners claims it has the support of Global banker J.P. Morgan to underwrite the deal.
Company Director Andrew Cochrane says Darwin would be central to its operations, because the Territory is closer to most of the rest of the world.
He says, if successful, it would be jobs growth and investment to the top end.
If the take over is not approved, he says Renaissance Partners will still go ahead with moves to bring back T.A.A.
The bid to save REX comes as China Southern Airlines hints at operating direct flights with Darwin.
