A 29-year-old Belconnen man has faced the weekend sitting of the ACT Magistrates Court  (Saturday, 11 February 2023) charged with multiple counts of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm and Affray following an incident last month.

About 1.50am on Thursday, 26 January 2023, ACT Policing received reports of a serious assault in Garema Place, Canberra City.

Following an ACT Policing media release, several members of the community came forward with information.

On Friday (10 February 2023), ACT Policing executed search warrants in both Belconnen, ACT and Marsden Park, NSW.

During these search warrants, officers seized evidence including electronic items. They also conducted several interviews in relation to the dual assault.

The 29-year-old man was arrested and will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today.

Police expect to lay similar charges against a second man, who will be summonsed to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
