COVID-19 Secured in the Repaired Shine Dome

The ANU’s Shine Dome now houses the entire genome sequence of COVID-19 in a time capsule placed under the restored roof.

A recording of the sequence was just one of countless items included in the time capsule, which is set to be opened some time after 2100.

Restoration works for the Shine Dome have been under way since November after the January hailstorm damaged the copper tiles.

A reopening ceremony is being planned for later in the year.
