There’s promising news for Canberra’s Defence Force Numbers.

New figures have revealed a rise in permanent headcount for defence…

There are 61,189 fulltime personnel, that’s up 1,868 in the last financial year.

The figure is still short of the targetted 69,000 personnel by the early 2030’s.

Defence Personnel Minister Matt Keogh said looser fitness and medical requirements, which have long been criticised as overly strict, had opened the door to more Australians seeking to serve.
